The Colma Fire
Protection District was founded in 1925 by a group
of volunteers who banded together to help protect
their community. That same spirit of community
exists today with 36 members of the department who
respond in time of need. Our department is unique in
the bay area in that it is a Paid - on - call
department whose members respond from home or work
24 hours a day 7 days a week. The fire district has
a paramedic on duty 24 hours a day ready to respond
to any call for medical assistance. In addition, all
of our members are certified as fully trained
firefighters able to mitigate any emergency. While
our staffing model may be different, our response
times meet or exceed the same standards which are
set for fire departments who fully staff a firehouse
24 hours a day. Each member of our department is
committed to serving the community and keeping our
